The Glutes

glutes
Did you know that the Glutes are the biggest and strongest muscle in the body?

It is actually our butts! It is primarily responsible for rotation and extension of  the hip joint.

The reason why it is the strongest muscle in the body is because they keep our body erect. They hold, rotate and move our upper body through our hips. It is very important to always work on strengthening and conditioning it.

There are many exercises that strengthen it, some of these include:

  • Lunges
  • Squats
  • Leg Press
  • Leg Curls
  • Deadlifts
  • Bulgarian Squats
  • Banded Kickbacks

For some people leg exercises are not their favourtie, so they sometimes “skip leg day!”  This is detrimental not only to the other muscles in the legs, but also the glutes. Leg exercises are the only way to assist the glutes because of the muscle connection from our leg muscles to our glutes.

Remember to “NEVER SKIP LEG DAY”. There are many ways that we can work our legs and butt; eg. go for a walk in the park and if you see a step or a chair just try to do a couple of step ups or easy leg exercises to fire up those butts.

You can do it!
